Pratt & Whitney’s Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team in West Palm Beach, FL is looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to support jet engine programs spanning many product families: Military – F119, F135, Adaptive Engine Transition Program and the Commercial – Next Generation Program Family (Geared Turbofan) . Responsibility may cover the entire product life cycle, from new propulsion system development through part manufacture and technical support of fielded products. The HSE organization is responsible for all aspects of Combustor, Diffuser, Turbine and Exhaust System hardware, including component design, development and technical support.

Typical duties may include: leading or being part of a multidiscipline team developing conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs of APU and gas turbine engine components; responsibility for design configurations; cost, weight and producability requirements; participation in solving production manufacturing and assembly issues and Material Review; and technical support of field/product in service issues. Interaction with internal and external customers is expected; good communication skills and assertiveness are highly valued.
Qualifications 7-12 years of experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering related to design development or repair of APU or gas turbine engine hardware. Specific familiarity with gas turbines or APU engine combustion, turbine and exhaust systems is preferred. Candidates with additional hands-on experience in assembly or manufacturing process are highly encouraged to apply.

The candidate who has familiarity with engineering standard processes and continuous improvement initiatives is preferred.

Computer skills: Proficiency in 3D solid modeling; high proficiency in Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter Engineering is a plus. Education B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required. M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent in related engineering field is considered a plus.
