Georgia-Pacific has an immediate need for a Mobile Equipment Mechanic at our
Emporia, VA
Plywood facility. This position creates value for the facility by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on mobile equipment leading to increased uptime and reliability, thus helping the facility to meet their production and quality goals. Overtime is a normal requirement.
Weekend work is required routinely.
Work area is subject to seasonal temperatures and outside weather conditions.
Subject to noise levels requiring constant hearing protection. Exposure to caustics, chemicals, lubricants and hydraulic fluids are common to this type work.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
* Maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of Mobile Equipment to include but not limited to the inspection, diagnoses and repair of Mobile Equipment.
* Operate equipment for maintenance purposes.
* Perform PMs, routine repairs and maintenance involving disassembly, assembly and adjustments of equipment components.
* Work with vendors to get parts pricing and repair quotes and placing orders for parts.
* Responsible for keeping Mobile Equipment shop clean and organized and monitoring oil inventories.
* Perform simple cutting, fitting and welding tasks as directed
* Must provide own hand tools.

What You Will Need:

Core Competencies:
* Knowledge of mobile equipment vehicles to include industrial forklifts, man lifts, sweepers, wheel loaders, etc.
* Must be capable of troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems using electrical and hydraulic schematics.
* Overhauling or rebuilding one or more systems on a wide range of vehicles or equipment, such as diesel, gasoline, and other types of internal combustion engines; automatic and non-automated transmissions; heavy duty drive line systems; and/or hydraulic utility systems and controls.
* Must have ability to work independently and problem-solve while working alone or as part of a team.
* Must be proficient in the use of a
computer and software (word, excel)
* Initiates and takes action before being asked to do so; demonstrates ability to work under minimum supervision.
* Communicate clearly verbally and in writing; listens carefully in an open, candid and consistent manner.
* Adheres to company policies in regards to attendance, Safety and Environmental compliance.
* Knowledge and awareness of industrial sites and ability to work varying start times dependent on business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

* 5+ years experience in maintenance of large mobile equipment to include front end leaders, man lifts, skid steers, extended boom lifts, forklifts, cranes and small engines.
* Minimum 1 year experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel, gasoline, and propane engines, including fuel injection systems, turbos, etc.
* Minimum 1 year experience troubleshooting and repairing transmissions and drive trains.
* Minimum 1 year experience in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems.
* Minimum 1 year experience performing basic diagnostics and repairs to electrical systems.
* Minimum 1 year experience performing minor welding repairs.

Facility Mechanic

Under the daily supervision of the Maintenance Manager with assistance as needed from the Station Manager. Performs the required preventative maintenance and the repairs of the LAXFUEL fuel facility as required. Ensures that all work assigned is performed in a timely fashion with quality workmanship. Ensure through definitive methods that product meets or exceeds quality standards set forth; ensure all work is completed in a timely manner, contributing to an efficient operation, while projecting a professional image for Aircraft Services International, Inc. and LAXFUEL Corporation. Requirements A) EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent experience and background in mechanical or Petro chemical field.

B) EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Eight (8) weeks required to learn details of job. Three (3) months required to perform the job with minimum supervision. Experience on the job requires learning responsibilities of all phases of the LAXFUEL fuel system. It is extremely important to understand LAXFUEL’s established guidelines and procedures to ensure that they are adhered to.

C) RESOURCEFULNESS: Basic mechanical, planning, and trouble-shooting skills to keep the LAXFUEL system in good mechanical operation.

D) ABILITY TO DO ROUTINE WORK: There are considerable routine functions in this position. It will be necessary that all work assignments be done accurately to avoid fuel spills or fuel farm related events. Accurate work ethics are essential due to the nature of the assignment.

E) MANUAL OR MOTOR (MACHINES) OPERATIONS: Must understand equipment of aviation environment i.e. hydrant fuel systems and the mechanical functions associated with such fuel facility related equipment. Ability to diagnose mechanical related problems and to the best of one’s ability correct the problems. This category as stated, is not exclusive.

F) CAPACITY FOR GETTING ALONG WITH OTHERS: Work in close proximity with other employees and may be in direct contact with airline management personnel. Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers and the general public and to use good judgment in recognizing scope and authority.

G) RESPONSIBILITY FOR GOODWILL AND PUBLIC RELATIONS: This position represents a contact mainly with oil companies, airlines, into-plane fueling agents and the LAXFUEL Membership. As stated in the Statement of Position, while in the performance of their duties, employees need to project a professional image for ASII and it’s customer.

H) SUPERVISION: Consults directly with the Maintenance Manager in regards to unusual situations. Management is always available and or on call. No supervision of others is required.

I) WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to outdoor environments, various inclement weather conditions, aviation related fumes and various noise levels. Acutely aware of safety related procedures. Position requires wearing safety related equipment, i.e. goggles, gloves, boots, respirator, hearing protection, and back support as necessitated by a specific task. Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing, rotating, twisting, climbing of high tanks, squatting, kneeling, overhead arm movement. Must be able to occasionally handle weights up to and including 75 lbs. Exposure to related cleaning and chemical materials (review MSDS Reference Book) during routine and special cleaning assignments. This category as stated, is not exclusive.

J) OTHER ACQUIRED SKILLS NEEDED: Maintain a valid California Driver’s License. Failure to maintain valid Driver’s License may subject your continual employment. Position requires individuals to drive a dual-wheel rear axle truck, with a stick shift and side mirrors.

K) SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to comply with local airport, FAA and/or U.S. Customs safety, security, and identification requirements.

L) DUTIES OF THE JOB:

10) Assist on special projects, career development and attend training seminars as required by the department manager.

M) DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING: We conduct random drug and alcohol testing for all employees.

GSE Mechanic

Experienced mechanic responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on airport ground support equipment, vehicles, and other related equipment.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Receives work orders and obtains the necessary tools required for the repair.

Transports the vehicle (s) to be repaired by driving, towing, or pushing vehicle into service bay.

Vehicles may consist of tugs, forklifts, pay loaders, fuel trucks and other larger airport vehicles.

Inspects parts and/or motor vehicles to identify defective or broken parts.

Repairs diesel engines, hydraulic, electric, and mechanical systems.

Obtains replacement parts, installing and/or making repairs as required.

Repairs may require rebuilding as assemblies, systems, etc.

Confers with Supervisor for complex repairs, which require direction or approval for ordering parts.

Completes work orders and provides status on any „open” work orders.

Ensure the safe and secure operations, in accordance with the highest possible standards of health, safety, security and all government statutory requirements.

Additional duties may include changing batteries, tires, oil, and other minor repairs. Requirements

Minimum three (3) years related experience.

Must have knowledge of heavy-duty diesel/automotive equipment.

Experience with troubleshooting and repair of complex hydraulic and electrical systems required.

Must have own tools and be able to operate various power and hand tools safely.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Must be flexible to work all hours/days including nights, weekends and holidays as dictated by operational requirements.

Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., comfortable with bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling various items

Clean driving record with DMV certified copy.

Must be able to pass all pre-employment testing, including physical abilities and drug testing and ten-year background check as required by U.S. Customs.
